How Sleep Disorders and ADHD

January 28 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm MST

FREE

EXPERT: J.J. Sandra Kooij, M.D., Ph.D.

Sleep problems are among the most frequent co-occurring disorders in people with ADHD. We know that sleep loss impairs concentration, memory, mood stability, and the immune system’s functioning, increasing risk for infections and allergies. Not surprisingly, ADHD is associated with many allergies and infections.

The good news is that most sleep disorders can be treated effectively, and doing so can reduce ADHD symptoms and lead to improved health and wellness.

In this webinar, you will learn:

  • Why people with ADHD commonly suffer with sleep problems and disorders
  • About the different kinds of sleep disorders, including the circadian sleep-wake disorder, delayed sleep phase typeinsomnia, restless legs, periodic limb movement disorder and sleep apnea
  • How researchers are working to better understand the close relationship between ADHD and sleep disorders
  • About treatment study findings that show low-dose melatonin, bright light therapy and other interventions may help reduce ADHD symptoms and lead to better overall health.
