EXPERT: Dr. Andrew Adesman
Parents of children with ADHD are often reluctant to consider medication as a first-line treatment approach despite the expansive body of research documenting not only that it is the single most effective treatment for this condition, but that it is also very safe and generally well-tolerated. Instead, for a multitude of reasons, parents will often prefer to pursue one or more novel treatment approaches whose efficacy is not well established. This presentation will provide an evidence-based review of each of the many different alternative approaches. This information is essential for clinicians if they are going to be able to effectively counsel families about which complementary and/or alternative approaches are worth considering and which should be dismissed when treating youth with ADHD.
